John 19:22 "Lifted Up From the Earth" (June 11)
John 19:22 ~ Pilate refused to change the inscription, however, saying with an air of finality indicated by the double use of the perfect tense, “What I have written, I have written.”Jesus, King of the Jews." Written in 3 languages! How ironical! He is now proclaimed to all the world as King by a Gentile. He is now lifted up from the earth---the Event that changes our lives--- and God now begins to draw all men from every nation to Himself. How can I lift up the Name of Jesus this day that He may draw men to Himself? How can we lift up His Name 2,000 years later to Sally, to Noah, to Greg, to Lauren, to Blair, to Barrett? He is on the move.

ReplyDeleteIt's certainly not for lack of opportunity. Today, my brother will visit and we'll have lots of time to talk. He's so smart and hard to reach that I am intimidated to share the Truth with him. He goes to the Unitarian church and sings in the choir, and sometimes even gives the "sermon." He wants Jesus, to be loved, yet the conventional church has no room for him because of an ongoing sin. Not unlike me, yet he is rejected, and my sin (anxiety) for some odd reason seems more acceptable to others. And I am not banned from the church.
The best I can come up with for him is to love well. I want words, but so many words have damaged. Grace for him is found in untraditional ways. He has heard Truth but it's so intermingled with man's constraints.
Grace is so much bigger.
We must be lost before we can be found.
ReplyDeletePraise for Sally....just found out, they are saying she is cancer free from the neck down...also heard there are crucial decisions to be made in the next few days....so there are prayer meetings everywhere here in town and in Nashville where they live. The family is asking that we pray that the radiation will go just to the cancer and leave the rest of her brain alone....she has been taking steriods, understand that can cause her serious side affects. Drew is doing beautifully, he is the one bright spot right now.
ReplyDeleteGod really is on the move and saving people's souls and lives for all eternity, may He smile on Sally and hear our prayers for her that she be allowed to raise Drew.
He will draw people to Him when He is lifted up. I understand your pain, Annette in talking to your brother. My sister has told me more than once that she was not ready to give up her friends.....she does know the difference in being lost and being saved. I have prayed that the Lord gave/will give you the right words that will penetrate his darkness and let the light of the Savior in.
Someone on FB gave Dave credit for Noah's profession of faith and Dave said it was God's grace...it is His amazing grace that draws all of us. He does give us the words we need to speak.....and even when we think we've not said the right words, He uses what ever we have given to Him for His benefit and the benefit of the kingdom.
Yes, God is on the move....
