John 19 "History Hinges on Three Words" John June 10)

Flogged naked
Arrayed regally
Mocked royally
Struck underhanded
Declared guilty
Crowned illegal
Behold kingship
Bore shame
Delivered silently

Jesus was crucified ~
The Greatest Story ever told is described in 3 words.
The King was crucified. The Suffering Savior went to the Cross in Silence.
What does that silence in suffering mean for me this day?

  1. The final Good Friday of this year in our reading, but not in our hearts. This day changed our hearts and the course of our lives, from death and imprisoned souls filled with sin, to joyful life and freedom from the chains of bondage to sin.

The King of the Jews is Lord of all. Because of this day. Because of His excruciating sacrifice. Because of His Love.

May His Grace cover you, fill you, free you. Blessed Good Friday, Pearls!

  2. What does silence in suffering mean for me this day? I was just reading Chapter 6 in the book, Woman After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George and silence to me today will be to not nag, correct or disagree with my husband in public (or private). Instead I will treat him as I would treat Christ Himself. It's suffering to me because it won't come naturally and will be plain hard, but the least I can do on this Good Friday.

  3. Good Friday means to me that my debt was paid in full. I am so undeserving of that debt being paid, His silence in suffering set me free, gave me life everlasting and joy during the hard times of life here on earth.

Yesterday, Dave's oldest son, Noah made a profession of faith at VBS. His counselor was a family friend and that made it extra special, God really knows how to show up, does He not. This Nana is doing the happy dance for sure. Fills my heart to overflowing with gratitude to the Lord for all He has done. And Noah could only make that profession of faith because of what Jesus did on the cross for his sin.
Blessings on all this week end.

  4. Praise God for Noah responding to the Voice of his Author. What a beautiful moment to see. Childlike faith. May Noah believe God all the days of his life.

  5. Silence in suffering.

I know He was in pain and agony physically. He didn't have to suffer. But His silence speaks to me that He was WILLING to suffer for me.

I know His emotions were feeling this suffering...He prayed to His Father to let the cup pass if there was any other way. He sweated great drops of blood! His emotions were beyond crisis point...and He still stood in authority, answered with courage and control, and endured the betrayal and abandonment of those closest to Him.

John the Beloved remained. I think about that as I read today's reading. John speaks eyewitness knowledge of this silent suffering. It changed him forever.

I am changed forever by His silent suffering. He means more to me than anything.

Others may place someone or something over Him in importance. But I want to make Him the King of my life. The day I gave Him my heart, I died and He now lives in me.

"From then on Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, "If you release this man, you are not Caesar’s friend."

Pilate missed out on TRUTH. And even worse, he missed out on LOVE AMAZING, SO DIVINE.
