A String of Pearls

Acts 5 "His Healing Hand is Stretched Out" (June 20)

The story of Ananias and Sapphira is startling and scary.  I've done far worse.  Look around and we see the unbelievable today.  Look in our very own hearts. Repent and live for advancing God's Kingdom, not our own kingdom.  Why do I have to make sure that I am taken care of?

What lingers with me from our reading is to pray for boldness, all the while knowing that our LORD's Hand is stretched out to heal.  Only God can bring the healing through our words.  Praying this day that our Mighty Healer will make us bold in advancing His Kingdom.

  1. You have not lied to men but to God."

I think of times in which I was so busy lying to myself, I never considered the fact I was lying to God too. I was either stuffing something down and pretending I was not hurt or emotionally crushed and not giving it over to the Lord or I was not confessing sin and repenting.

Thank You Lord for your never ending mercy and grace.

  2. I guess you could say I've had a volcanic spiritual week. Last week, I lost it at bible study, of all places. Then, talking with my college-bound daughter, I realized my religion is not her religion.
After mentally beating myself up all weekend and asking
God for forgiveness and to make me not mess up all the time, I have come to the relization that He is the Creator of the Universe. He made all of us for His delight.
I am here to serve Him and others by showing love, living love and giving myself for His service.
As we travel through time starting with June 20, 2011, let's remember there will never be an opportunity in our lives like this time. This is the youngest we will ever be, this is the time to savor His goodness, experience His mercy, and rely on His strength.
This week is a perfect time to renew our vows to love Him, our families, each other.
Pearls, you are loved. You are precious and made for God's delight.

  3. The power of God was moving.

Tonight I am tired. It's been a long day. I still have a lot to do before bedtime. But I come here tonight to receive God's Word from tonight's reading.

What speaks to me is that Peter's shadow healed.

Peter was as powerless as I am feeling tonight. But God's Spirit was a consuming fire in him and his shadow healed.

    That's amazing to me.
