Mark 9: 17 - Someone from the crowd pushes through: "Teacher, I brought my son to you---since his birth, he has a spirit that makes him mute. And whenever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid." Epilepsy? Demonic? The little boy was often cast into fire and water. To watch your young son foam at the mouth and be hurled headlong into darkness and pain---you ask questions. Immediately (there's the word again) the spirit in the boy convulsed him at the feet of the Suffering Servant who knew the pain. Jesus response is beautiful in verse 23: "'If you can, All things are Possible for one who believes." Our LORD is not saying if HE can, but if you can believe Him just enough, He will take care of the rest of all the details. And I LOVE the response of the dad in verse 24: "Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, "I believe; help my unbelief!" Jesus commanded the spirit to leave the boy. The young boy lies lifeless like a corpse for the spirit violated him violently upon departure out of his body. The Suffering Servant took the child by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. Mark 9:29 - "This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer."
Can we take a few minutes to pray for each other on this blog this day? Help us to have enough faith to trust you for what you have allowed to invade our lives. Help our unbelief, dear God!
I am home sick. Spent the afternoon at the doctor's office and my blood pressure was high. Today, I am taking it easy. I also had an email from my husband yesterday and it was not a hopeful email, but it was the first time he's contacted me in a long time.
ReplyDeleteI could use some prayers.
If any of you have anything specific I can pray for you, please write it here.
Lord, help our unbelief. We, too, can see Your power in our lives. I wait on You to work in my needs. And I thank You for how You are bringing Your will to pass.
I pray for each pearl, that You would look at the loaves in each of their hands and bless what they have and turn it into a mighty miracle. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Ang, I left you a few :) words on yesterday's reading.
ReplyDeleteI love that sentence today, "I believe, help my unbelief".
ReplyDeleteI believe, yet need help believing that the Master of the Universe cares about my issues, problems, and doubts.
He does care!
He is able!
I need to believe and to trust.
As we pray for each other today, please pray for me to have direction and focus. Please pray for my family, that they will follow Jesus and Believe.
Will be praying as you asked Deborah and Jan. I too believe, but there are times when I falter in my belief about certain things in my life. I so often ask too...I believe, help thou my unbelief...
ReplyDeleteThere are different kinds of miracles. The Lord told his disciples, "This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer."
ReplyDeletePraying for each of you, today, by name, for healing, wholeness, rest, financial relief, family and marriage restoration, renewed faith, softened hearts, ears that hear, Wisdom, delightful calm, and pure and unwavering belief.
Love you ladies!
Thanks, Deborah and all of the rest of you for your kind words yesterday! You are all dear to me and as I go through my day, whether it's driving in my car running errands, going to the bank, running on the treadmill or dealing with some crazy work stuff, know you are all on my heart and I'm really being weird lately and talking with God randomly throughout my day. I SOOOO wish I could have been on your retreat at Annette's Ranch so I could put voices, faces and your beautiful story to your names.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any specific prayer requests today! Life is too good!
Love you all,
By faith... I'm Believing God!
This crazy friend of yours just stopped her car to change her mind and ask you to please pray for anyone who is feeling left out and lonely today and is reading this blog but doesn't leave comments! :)!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Aww...that's moving Ang or should I stay God stopped you in your tracks to text your comment because He has Eyes to see what's really going on behind each screen.
ReplyDeleteA friend this week said: I am more concerned that you repent and know God more than I am that your marriage is working out, your children are turning out, your ministry is coming out...you get the missive. While that is truth, we still have to live in the midst of messy marriages and children and ministries...and trust God to help us learn to love well. And, O GOD!, Help our Unbelief. I LOVED hearing this verse, mark 9:23, like I was hearing it for the first time when Jesus said "IF YOU CAN, BELIEVE...and I just LOVE the hurting dadddy's response: I can believe---HELP MY UNBELIEF. So, for all of us here, I bow my head, my heart to offer my words on your behalf. God, help us all to believe what we can about you in the midst of dark times and delightful times. Help our UNBELIEF. May we see things from your perspective! Col 1:9. And I pray you would help all of us walk in the faith You are stirring up in us. Thank you for encouraging us---and I see so much faith in all who are here----help our unbelief when we speak Your Word to ourselves, our family, our friends, our world, with fearless courage. Philippians 1:12. Thank You LORD for all the faith you are working in each of us. We need you so and bow in humble praise and gratitude. Thank you for bending Your Ear to each of us this night!
Deborah, Oh No! I hope you are feeling much better! Much better! Just prayed for you and your beautiful heart. He loves you so! I prayed for you fearless courage to trust Him this sullen season. Love you to pieces, Bev
