The Draught of Disciples
Conscious of the Power of Christ
Luke 5:9 - The disciples were astonished at the draught of fish.
The nets could hardly hold them. These were accomplished fishermen.
They couldn't catch a thing all night. They knew they were in the midst
of something so powerful, so greater. Are you conscious this day of
a Beautiful Christ Who can capture for you what you cannot do?
Do you think what lies ahead is beyond the Power of your God?
Conscious of our Sin
Luke 5:8 "I am a sinful man, Oh LORD, Depart from me.
Are you conscious of the compulsions that lie beneath behaviors
Conscious of the sin that entangles us in our own nets?
Conscious of a Vision
Luke 5:10 "Do not be afraid, from now on you will be catching men.
There is a higher calling than the present work of the day.
Wonder why the response is so often fear on our parts?
365 times the Bible says: Do No Be Afraid.
Conscious of our Calling
What a beautiful calling in the midst of power, sin, and failure.
Luke 5:4 "Put out into the deep and let down your nets."
Don't settle for shallow living. Risk it all.
Who else has the Truth like this Man?
Am I looking to live this day risking it all putting it out deep and down?
Throw your caution to the wind! Do you hear the Lord in your midst calling you?
On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret...the crowd was pressing in to HEAR the Word of God, they heard the Messiah speak it out, I am so thankful that the Word is alive and as powerful as a 2 edged sword, just as powerful today as it was the day our Beloved Savior spoke it. Glory to our Lord Most High!
ReplyDeletePeter's first response: Go away. I am a sinful man.
ReplyDeleteWatching the God-man command the sea and the waters obey was too much to bear for Peter. He had doubted and humored Jesus' request to drop the nets one more time. He was amazed and then obviously feared, Who is this King of Glory that even nature moves at His command?
And Jesus' loving response: Don't be afraid, Peter. You will be my fisher of men.
What is my response as I witness God each day? I don't recognize and repent of my sinfulness. When I am aware, (not nearly often enough) I tend to be more thankful than remembering my unworthiness. I love Jesus' response (and your note, Bev, that it is said 365 times!) Do not be afraid, Simon... Do not be afraid, Annette, for I will purpose your work to My Glory.
He brings such redemption. Redemption from sin...but also redemption to His meaning for our lives.
"Be it unto me, according to Your Word." Luke 1:36 And with that statement, I feel the fear. But this morning, I hear Jesus say Do not be afraid. For I will do it. I will work through you to redeem and to repurpose your life to My glory.
"...Repurpose your life to My Glory." Wow!
