Luke 1:2 "Ministers of The Word and Prayer" (March 20)

Dr. Luke, bright physician, researched thoroughly multiple sources to bring us this gospel which still stands strong 2,000 years later. This physician uses medical terminology throughout his gospel.
Luke 1:4 Here are God's Words that you may have certainty concerning the things Jesus taught.

You Are a Minister of God's Word ~
One source Luke diligently searched out was "Ministers of the Word."
Ministers in the Greek is: huperetai, a word used in medical terminology:
"to refer to doctors who served under a principal physician."
Just like the followers then, we serve under The Great Physician
offering the Word of God to mend and heal and comfort broken lives.

You are a Servant on Duty in Prayer ~
While Zechariah was serving as priest, while his division was on duty...
An angel appeared to him saying:
Your prayers have been heard. You have a son.
God will go before your son in the spirit and power of Elijah,
to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,
and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just,
to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.

What Word comes to mind
to serve like a doctor today offering healing and comfort and help?
While I am serving whatever in my corner of today's world,
Will I be found faithful, found in prayer?

  1. Oh, yes may I be found faithful in the word and in prayer. Oh, how I fail Him every day, I do want to finish well. As I am in this present waiting room, waiting on doctors and timing of tests, may I be found faithful to seek Him and to show Him to others. May I shine for Jesus, dear Bev as I have watched you do, the past three years going on four. You have inspired me and pointed me to Him and shown us all how to live for Him. May we all be found faithful to the end.

  3. Mary Lou, I am praying for you every day as you await the results of your tests. Loved your facebook quote: “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me...” (Psalm 28:7). He does! He is! And you have already been found faithful turning to Him, leaning hard, holding fast. God gave me 2Chron 20:12,15 to pray for you and I'm holding on to that! We all need to help carry Mary Lou through this! Please add Mary Lou to your prayers---I know you all will! What a humble lady who loves Him so! So sorry to hear what is happening.

And Twinkle...praying for you as well. You come to mind so often. Let us know what God is doing in your heart---we know it's good! And we miss you so much here each day! Can't wait til you are back with us! Your words are Deut 32:2! They fall like rain on our weary hearts---come home soon!

  4. I left a post last night on my other blog: The Fray of My Heart, http://beverly-brandon.blogspot.com about possibly attending the She Speaks Conference. Can you hop over to The Fray and leave a comment? I think maybe God is calling me back into public speaking and so I'm waiting and wondering and praying. Thanks so much!

  5. To serve like a doctor? I would hope I would treat each patient (person) like they are my only concern and give them all the time they need instead of rushing to the next one. I would also pray for each of them. Thinking about The Great Physician this way makes me miss my job as a Dental Hygienist. It was my ministry. So many times people shared their concerns with me and I prayed for them. In the beginning when I was becoming a little more bold about my faith I wouldn't tell them. I finally got to the point where I would.

Praying for Wisdom today while I wait upon the Lord to show me where He wants me now.

    Have a nice Sunday, Pearls!

  7. Mary Lou, please know I am praying you through also. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this, and I know He is more than able. He is the Great Physician and Healer.

The prayers of a righteous man availeth much...
